I’ve been sitting on this show for over a week now. My girlfriends actually told me about this show. I should've known, it's a Netflix Shondaland production.

It goes without saying that the writing is terrific. It captures you from the get-go and the acting is great, however, there’s one character I just can’t decide on yet.
Storyline
In Inventing Anna, a journalist with a lot to prove investigates the case of Anna Delvey, the Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of New York's social scene and stole their money as well. But is Anna New York's biggest con woman or is she simply the new portrait of the American dream? Anna and the reporter form a dark funny love-hate bond as Anna awaits trial and our reporter fights the clock to answer the biggest question in NYC: who is Anna Delvey? The series is inspired by the New York Magazine article "How Anna Delvey Tricked New York's Party People" by Jessica Pressler, who also serves as a producer.

Inventing Anna is about a young female con artist who swindles her way through New York's Rich and Powerful.
Talk about a freeloader. Wow. How gullible some people are.
It’s all about, who you know within the right circles. Prominently, those circles with money and those who have a lot of it and a lot of connections. I guess if you have the balls anything is possible. This show proves it.
CASTING CHOICES
is beautifully cast. Absolutely nails this character of Vivian. Vivian is a down and out pregnant journalist with a distrusted journalistic past. This story beautifully unfolds throughout the season. In every episode, you’re left wondering, what really happened with that one story that changed her career trajectory for the worse.
Julia Garner
I simply cannot get a handle on this young actress. What do I mean?
If you watch Ozarks (if you haven’t, it is a must!) Julia Garner plays the role of Ruth Langmore.
She won the 2020 Emmy Award for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.
This is my quandary!
Yes. She’s a good actress, worthy of an award. It’s just, for me, she doesn’t fit into any character archetype.
Usually, as an actor, this would be amazing as you are not limited to a particular character stereotype. A chameleon, perhaps?
I’m not convinced.
I didn’t feel she was the right casting choice for Ruth in Ozark. She looks too young. Not too pretty for the role, absolutely no ego, it’s her fragile physicality that doesn’t work for me.
Now the same goes for Anna. I just can’t move past her baby face fragile youthfulness.

So I mean, the casting of Anna (Julia) in this aspect completely works.
Nevertheless, no matter how much I want to believe her, I just can’t. Even dressed up in her expensive clothes she can't pass it off to me. It actually takes away from her acting, it’s really distracting.
Or is it, because of my age and life experience that I now have such a strong Bullshit radar that if I crossed paths with the real-life Anna Sorokin my BS radar would be flashing red.
Is this the brilliance of casting Julia as Anna? Thinking about it, I guess it is. The casting of Julia as Anna, makes you think long and hard about Anna and the naivety or better still the shallowness of the young socialites in New York. I mean, come on, how did she fool so many people?
It blows my mind.
To think a young woman who looks this young could possibly defraud the who’s who of New York financial set is beyond me.
This is the story of the real-life Anna Sorokin (Anna Delvey),
Anna Sorokin is a Russian-born German con artist and fraudster. Between 2013 and 2017, Sorokin pretended to be a wealthy German heiress under the name Anna Delvey. In 2017, she was arrested after defrauding or intentionally deceiving major financial institutions, banks, hotels, and acquaintances in the United States for a total of $275,000. In 2019, Sorokin was convicted in New York state court of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services, and was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in prison. Sorokin has currently held in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody pending deportation. I’d be really interested in your thoughts?

(Succession) Damn this guy is so good.
So here we see an actor that has a character archetype, however from his character | casting in Succession to his casting in Inventing Anna, he shows his versatility as an actor. We will be seeing a lot more of this actor and I do hope they will be casting Arian in a slew of characters as his range as an actor is impressive and I believe he has a lot more to give. He's really good.
Alexis Floyd as Neff
Terrific actress. Pops on-screen, natural believable- I want to see more of her.
Noted performances - Katie Lowes as Rachel. And to my absolute delight. Anthony Edwards. Oh, I adore him. If you have seen Top Gun, and if you’re my age, you would have, it’s GOOSE.
