AS WE SEE IT!

Updated: Apr 3

Ok, so this is a new show that recently dropped on Amazon Prime. I hadn't heard of it at all until I came across a post in one of my groups on FB. Instantly, I jumped all over it.

Why?

The THREE main actors are on the Spectrum. Yes, not Actors pretending to be Autistic, this magnificent show is a real representation of what it's like to be Autistic.

NO, it is not a documentary. It is an M+ drama-comedy series that is simply magical.

Three autistic room-mates find a way to live together and strive for similar things in life.

I'm going to digress a bit here. ABC Australia created an amazing doco series following the lives of Autistic teenagers | young adults journeys of finding love. Personally, this is of great interest to me, as I have a child on the Spectrum, and this is my number one concern for him.

Will, he find someone who will love him?

After the huge success of 'Love on the Spectrum', I'm noticing more shows becoming inclusive #inclusionmatters. I remember ringing my bestie telling her that she'd love this show as it is the kindest, loving, joyous moving show I'd seen in a long time.

I was too late. She was watching it and adored it. So I thought, OK maybe people who don't have family members on the Spectrum will still enjoy this show.

Didn't they ever.
Twitter lit up. In season 2, there was one couple that got married. Oh... the wedding, I swear to God, everyone was bawling, I mean everyone on Twitter. (Yes I'm looking at you @lisa_Wilkinson) everyone was touched by this moment.

Now, what does that tell you? People want the feel-good stuff.

Netflix bought, Love On The Spectrum, and you guessed it, it was a smashing hit in the USA.

Back to, As We See It - I can't help but wonder if the success of (LOTS) is a direct result of why Amazon funded, As We See It. Either way, I don't give a hoot. I love that Networks are open to humanities diversity. It makes the world a much better place.

AWSI - stars, Rick Glassman - Sue Ann Pein and Albert Rutecki. I must mention, Sosie Bacon who plays their caregiver, nails her role. Her performance is tremendously subtle that makes her co-stars shine. Kudos to her.

All three characters will show you how different Autism looks. No one is the same. Hence why it's called a spectrum. They are the most adorable yet flawed characters on TV.

Jason Katims is the producer and writer of AWSI, he's known for Friday Night Lights (2006), Away (2020) and Parenthood (2010).

From my understanding, he has a child with Autism and understood how to write a show that is funny, witty and dramatic. Jason, you're a legend! P.S -- Friday Night Lights - If you haven't - no brainer. Don't think - just do! Watch it.

3 episode Binge-watch at a time.
